We recommend cleaning your printhead regularly, and every time you change the ribbon. Changing the temperature settings around March and October each year also helps ensure the best quality print year-round.

There are 5 key areas for printer maintenance:
Cleaning the printer is ideal for your printer maintenance. By regularly cleaning this, it prevents any contaminents staying on the printhead that could affect the print quality.
Contaminents that are big enough could cause dots on your number plate print. We recommend cleaning this every 2 months and any time you change the ribbon in your printer.
The ribbon is the material that transfers the printed registration onto your number plate reflective or film. When the ribbon runs out, it will need to be replaced.
To replace the ribbon you will need to open front of your printer, then slide the used ribbon out. Replace the new ribbon onto the roll. Once this has been reinserted back into the printer, you can begin printing again.
The printhead inside the printer is responsible for heating and transferring the ribbon onto the number plate reflective or film. Over time, the printhead may need replacing from consistent or long-term use which can cause imperfections on your prints.
The process is shown in the video, however please contact our technical support team who would be happy to help you, if you are unsure about replacing the printhead.
The temperature settings can have an impact on your print quality, especially if there are fluctuations in the printer’s environment.
You can change the settings in one of several ways, which are shown in the video. It will change how hot the printer heats and transfer the ribbon material onto the number plate reflective or film.
For this printer, it is important the the printhead is aligned and has the right amount of pressure to allow the media through and print correctly.
It is not often you will have to do this, so we recommend getting advice from our Technical Support team if you are unsure whether this needs doing, and how you should do it.
